2020 William Downie Manilla Pinot Noir
2 in stock
2020 Manilla – This patch of vines, while less than 5km north of
Millstream, and at similar elevation, produces a very different wine.
Planted to MV6 in 1983, it shows slightly less fruit intensity than its
nearest neighbouring vines. The red volcanic soils face very slightly to the
south and look more in the direction of the Tarago reservoir. These plants
grow the lushest green canopy of any of our vines. The wine is very light
in colour but shows intense strawberry as well as rhubarb and
watermelon. There is a feeling of sweetness that adds weight and texture
without losing definition and purity.
This wine makes us think of a shady spot on a warm spring day
