Maison Olivier Leflaive
Villages White barrel

Producer note: See the section for Domaine Olivier Leflaive (immediately above) for more information regarding the 2016 vintage. I would note that several wines had just been bottled before I tasted them and thus some of them displayed notes of either reduction or residual sulfur. Further, it’s important to point out that Leflaive’s commercial policy to only release their wines after two years so that the wines have adequate time to recover and better harmonize. Tasting note: Firm reduction masks the fruit. Otherwise the medium-bodied flavors possess a sleek mouth feel with good delineation and energy suffusing the caressing but intense finale that is markedly citrus-inflected. This needs to develop better depth but the underlying material appears to be present for that to happen.
