Producer note: François Mikulski described 2015 as an “excellent vintage in both colors that gave us ripe but not super-ripe fruit. I chose to begin picking on the 31st of August and while the fruit was in general very clean there was still some sorting required for the pinot. Potential alcohols ranged from 12.5 to 13% in red and 12.8 to 13.2% in white. My approach was essentially to treat the fruit very gently as the skins were thick and thus there was no need to push to have extraction. This cost me a bit of volume in white but the musts were much finer. In the same fashion I did a relatively light vinification for the reds as it wasn’t necessary to do much more. I really like the 2015s and in particular I think that the whites are going to surprise people as to how well they age.” Mikulski noted that his 2015 whites, with the exception of the Limozin, were bottled in December 2016 and January 2017. Tasting note: A spicy nose exhibits notes of orange pekoe tea, fresh citrus and acacia blossom that precede the detailed and much finer middle weight flavors that possess an attractive underlying tension and minerality on the punchy, focused and mouth coating finish where once again a hint of bitter lemon surfaces. This is really quite good and worth a look.
