Simon Busser is one of the greatest farmers I know and this cuvee of 100% Tannat from 2014 is testament to exactly that.
This is from a single parcel within his 5ha domaine and despite the typically dark fruit of the region it’s still utterly digestible and delicious thanks to the acidity inherent in all of Simon’s wines.
It’s medium bodied, extraordinarily appropriate for cool weather, dark and seriously, seriously good fun to drink.
Simon’s property is within the region of Cahors and sits on a sharp bend in the Lot River. His fruit (only red grapes here) is fermented in old oak after being destemmed and is run in to bottle just before the next harvest.
