Meursault “Les Gouttes d’Or”
Villages White 750 ml
Tasted: Jun 11, 2013
Producer note: As is typically the case, Lalou Bize-Leroy actually had very little to say about her ’11s. For a bit more detail about Leroy’s views on the vintage, please consult the Leroy reviews in Issue 50 or see the database. Tasting note: There is enough reduction present to affect the expressiveness of the nose though again I do not expect it to persist as the concentration here is just brilliant. There is superb volume to the broad-shouldered and powerful medium weight plus flavors that exude plenty of palate coating dry extract yet there is absolutely no sense of heaviness as the very firm acid spine shapes and balances the hugely long and seriously complex finish. This is a stunner of a Gouttes d’Or.
