84 bottles shipped only. Germain’s villages blend is now sourced from seven separate lieux-dits, including the excellent Vireuils, Clos du Cromin and Les Pellans. Vireuils delivers the minerality, Cromin, on the Volnay hill, brings depth and power, while Les Pellans, right on the Puligny border, brings freshness. The other sites include Moulin à Judas and Dressoles. The vines range in age between 15 and 70 years old. Jean-François lost 50% of this bottling to the frost.
Rob’s note: “Really, really fine, classy and pure white Burgundy, with classy grapefruit pithy fruit and creamy notes from the lees. Very seductive and with super finesse! YES!”
“Outstanding. A very pretty nose offers up notes of essence of pear, hazelnut and a whiff of citrus peel. Succulent, round and plump medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the moderately firm acidity shaping the balanced finish that flashes excellent depth and persistence for a villages level wine. Recommended.” 89-91 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Issue 71
